Winsford Ladies F.C. 1 - 1 Glossop North End (League Match)

Winsford Ladies F.C. dropped 2 more league points on Sunday,
in a match against Glossop North End that they should have won.

The Ladies squad for Sunday, was made up of the following:
Sarah Lee was in nets.
The Defence was Rachel Robbins, Emma Johnson, Hanna Hewitson
and Kathryn Hulme.
The Mid-field was Vicky Jones, Kylie Kettle, Danielle Lydiate
and Hayley Mogford.
And Winsford's strikers were Jay Anderson and Amy Hughes.

The match kicked-off and the Ladies were straight to the job
at hand, keeping possession of the ball for long periods and
winning the ball straight back when they had lost possession.
The Ladies were hoping for a confident, winning performance,
but the visitors had other ideas and made it very difficult for
the Ladies to get a shot at goal.

Winsford's keeper Lee, was substituted after 20 mins, following
a clash with the Glossop striker.  Lee, was already playing with
an ankle ligament injury and offered to go in goal as Jessica Moore,
the Ladies regular keeper was unavailable.  The Winsford keeper had
come out to clear the ball from the edge of her 18-yard box and
kicked the ball with her injured ankle at the same moment the Glossop
striker made contact.  It was abrave decision to make, but although
Lee managed to win the ball, the challenge put her out of the game.

The Ladies had to make the substitution, so they looked to
Nicola Bogue to step up and help them out in their moment of
crissis, which she did.  Bogue showed great team spirit by putting
on the keepers jersey and she didn't let the team down with her
performance either, considering she isn't a keeper and had never
stood in goal before.

Winsford regrouped and piled the pressure on the visitors in
search of that illusive goal that would hopefully seal victory.

The half time whistle blew with the score level, at nil nil.

The Ladies came out in the second half with renewed energy and
went in search of a goal.  It wasn't long before their efforts were
rewarded.

Through the pressure that Winsford were putting the visitors under,
they won themselves a corner.  Hewitson took the corner, sending a
perfectly weighted cross into the 6-yard box, from which Kettle managed
to get a toe on the ball and send it into the Glossop net.  1 nil to
the Ladies.

Glossop came back at Winsford, not willing to conceed three more
points.  The visitors hadn't tested Winsford much during the game,
but on one of their ventures into Winsford's half a tackle from Lydiate
was deemed unfair, so the referee awarded them a free-kick.  The Ladies
set out their defence, but the free kick was of the from which they scored.

Winsford piled on the pressure for the rest of the second half, doing
everything they could to find that goal that would secure the victory, but
it just wasn't to be.

On the day, the final score of 1 - 1 was justified for the visitors
as they put in a very determined performance.  However, Winsford's overall
performance was very much below par from the previous week.

The "Girl of the Match" award was given to Winsford's stand in keeper
Nicola Bogue, who really did step up to the plate and put in a very confident
performance in nets, making several crucial saves.

Winsford's next match is away to Greater Manchester Police
on Sunday 7th November 2010.
