Winsford Ladies F.C. 0 - 6 Northwich Vixens (League Match)

The Ladies Team were really looking forward to their very
first league match against their closest neighbours, as were
Northwich Vixens.  But on the day, it was the visitors who
were victorious.

The home side tried everything they could to score, with
several chances to take the lead going just wide.  With each
passing moment, the pressure and tension grew bewtween them.
The Winsford defense tried to hold their line and kept the
visiting strikers at bay, by using the offside trap to great
effect.  But it was inevitable, that Vixens would get a bit
of luck with the high line that the defense was holding,
which they did and capitalised on it with the opening goal
to break the deadlock.

Winsford did their best to control the game and keep
possession of the ball, but Vixens were hungrier and gave
the Ladies not a second on the ball, before they were upon
them.  So it wasn't long before the visitors doubled their
lead.

The visitors had the two goal lead and it was Winsford
who breathed a sign of relief when the half time whistle came,
so that they could discuss where things were going wrong, or
not working.  But however you looked at it, it was going to be
an up hill battle to get back into the game.

The visitors had a two goal lead by half time, which meant
that Winsford were still in with a chance of at least a share
in the points.  But that wasn't to be, as Vixens broke the
hearts and minds of the Winsford players with four more goals
in the second half.

Overall, the visitors took their chances and scored, but
Winsford's chances were squandered.

The Ladies will not dwell on what might have been, but will
regroup, and look forward to the rest of the season.

Winsford's next match is at home to Airbus UK on
Sunday 12th September 2010.
