The Ladies Football Team had a friendly match against Liverpool Ladies Reserves.
We would like to thank all those who turned up on Sunday to offer their support to the Ladeis Team. Although the score line doesn' t look pretty, Winsford Ladies gave a very good account of themselves against Liverpool Ladies Reseves.
The fixture was arranged to give the Ladies Team a tough workout against very srong opposition. And that's certainly what we got. The ladies team can definitely hold their heads high, following this friendly. Liverpool Ladies Reserves went into the half time break with a 1 nil advantage, which showed that Winsford Ladies were holding their own against a talented Liverpool side.
It wasn't until later in the second half, that Liverpool started to take more control of the game, when Winsford Ladies began to fade. The two teams agreed with the referee prior to kick off, to have roll on/roll off substiutions, which played into Liverpool's hands perfectly, as they turned up with a squad of 20 player's, all eager to make their mark and impress the Liverpool Manager. This was unfortunate for Winsford, as they only had one substitute available on the day. However, this did not deter Winsford putting in a determined performance and at times worrying the Liverpool back four and testing the Liverpool keeper.
